If you are at least 14 years old and have thought about becoming a referee, you should register for a course as soon as possible as they tend to fill up quickly. The course you want is the NEW GRASSROOTS REFEREE-ENTRY LEVEL. It is a 1 day course.
If you need to be re-certified, those classes fill up even quicker. There are only a few local options, so please sign-up ASAP. You will want to select the GRASSROOTS REFEREE RECERTIFICATION class, and I would recommend the ADVANCED option as there are more in-depth conversations of field application of rules.
Please don’t hesitate signing up if you are interested. The classes are limited and fill up very quickly.
Thank you again for helping PYS as referees. Your role is vital to the success of our program!
With 2 weeks remaining in the fall season, I wanted to thank each of you for a great fall season. Even with the recent rain, I saw teams out practicing each night with coaches and players working hard to improve their skills.
We have many board members who will be retiring this year and I look forward to meeting a new group of parents who are interested in working with our PYS players grow their soccer skills and overall personal development, and also to drive the future of the PYS program.
Some of our board positions require a level of soccer knowledge and expertise, while some just require commitment and good adult decision making.
As you consider whether you are someone who would be interested in joining the PYS Board, let me tell you about two key roles we NEED to fill.
Security and Backgrounds: After many seasons Kyle McNamara would love to hand the CORI/Safesport process over to a new volunteer. This position works with the board to ensure all coaches have their necessary background checks and training completed and have credentials to coach.
Stats, Referee Assigner: Mike Guimares has transformed how we manage this process during his tenure! Taking a very manual process and bringing technology to the kids for simplicity! This position does require soccer knowledge and a current or previous referee is preferred. This position works with all of our refs, trains our game managers, and assigns referees for the home games. This is a key role in the organization, as nothing happens without our referees!
We also have other positions available and would love to see new parents get involved. Our November meeting is dedicated to explaining our process, and voting on a new board for the 2020 year. The meeting will be held Wednesday, November 20th at the Pembroke High School Library. 7:00 PM.
Contact Dawn McAuliffe (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Kevin Williams (email@example.com), if you are interested and would like to gather more information.
Special thanks to both Kyle and Mike, the last 4 years have run smoothly due to their efforts and time in their roles

South Shore Sports Center Winter Indoor Incentive Program
by posted 10/04/2019
The Fall Season is off to a great start…much better than the frequent rain outs we experienced last year. We are hoping that October will bring much of the same.
As we get into October, many of our coaches, parents and players begin looking for opportunities to stay engaged with soccer over the Winter.
We want to make you aware of an incentive program which has been offered by the South Shore Sports Center to PYS players and teams.
This program provides PYS with opportunities for the following:
- Discounted registration fees for both teams and individual players (individual players who do not have a full team to enter into a winter session can be placed on a “house team” coached by professional coaches employed by the South Shore Sports Center)
- Donations back to PYS Program based on target participation levels
- Donated "Turf Time" at the Sports Center based on target participation levels
- Free Soccer Clinics for PYS based on target participation levels
- Opportunity to earn a PYS Night at the Sports Center next Spring
- Discounts on birthday parties and other kids events at South Shore Sports Center
The Sports Center will provide a private registration link for PYS teams and individual players to use.
If you have any questions regarding the incentive program and registration, please contact Kevin Williams at firstname.lastname@example.org
